Subject:  Release of Personally Identifiable Information

Dear Crystal Pond Homeowner:

Personally identifiable information ("PII") is information about you, such as your name, address, or Social Security number, that someone could use to identify or locate you.

Besides a general desire for personal privacy and to be "left alone", there are very legitimate reasons why people act to decrease the personal information easily accessible about themselves.

The fastest growing financial crime in the nation-"identity theft"-is one important reason.  Identity theft is when someone uses your personal identification information, such as your credit card number or social security number, to obtain something of value.

It takes very little to have your identity stolen.  Only a few pieces of information can give a thief the ability to, for example, get a credit card in your name and leave you to deal with the bills."

Homeowner information is "public information". However, the Tax Assessor's office would consider not releasing homeowner personal information, if they had a request-statement from the homeowner not to release it.

In the past, your Board of Managers has been asked for your Personal Identifiable Information by vendors and Crystal Pond Homeowners.  We do not release your public information under any circumstances, unless you advise us in writing that you wish us to.
